About The Sett

Cheese, Charcuterie & Wine

The Sett is Brockenhurst’s newest and friendliest bar, located in Lyndhurst Road, five minutes’ walk from the railway station, close to the village centre and in the heart of the beautiful New Forest National Park.

The Sett’s owners are Ralph Buchanan and Maisy Wyer. Ralph grew up in the New Forest and has many family members in the area. Before returning to his roots he attended high school in the USA, university in Glasgow and lived and worked in London.

Maisy grew up in Surrey and studied at the famous River Cottage in Dorset. Both possess varied experience in the hospitality industry but The Sett is their first business venture.

Unusually, in a former life The Sett was a public convenience, closed by the council in 2006 before being sold in 2013. It was converted and opened as an ice-cream parlour in 2014. Ralph and Maisy took it over in October 2017 and have been busy turning it into The Sett, a welcoming haven for those who enjoy great food and drink in a convivial atmosphere.

Come and unwind, eat and drink. Use our games, cards, reading matter and free Wi-Fi and, if the weather’s fine, watch the world go by from our outdoor terrace. We look forward to seeing you.

Our Menus

We offer sweet and savoury snacks, home-made and locally sourced. This includes cakes. brownies, flapjacks, sausage rolls and various sourdough sandwiches. Our house speciality is a range of cheese and charcuterie platters designed for sharing. It is all local (or reasonably so). Please ask about our gluten-free options.

The Sett

Have you tried Cornish Yarg on one of our amazing cheese and charcuterie platters?
Tangy, and slightly crumbly at the core, this creamy cow's milk cheese is wrapped in nettles to form an edible mould rind with a delicate mushroomy flavour.
Come and give it a try!
